A WISE view on extreme AGB stars

چکیده

(abridged) Variability is a key property of stars on the asymptotic giant branch (AGB). Their pulsation period related to luminosity and mass-loss rate (MLR) star. Long-period variables (LPVs) Mira are most prominent all types variability evolved stars. However, reddest, obscured AGB too faint in optical have eluded large surveys. Our goal obtain sample LPVs with MLRs by analysing WISE W1 W2 light curves (LCs) for about 2000 sources, photometrically selected include known C-stars 11.3 mu silicon carbide dust feature absorption, Galactic O-stars periods longer than 1000 days. Epoch photometry was retrieved from AllWISE NEOWISE database fitted sinus curve. Photometry other surveys also downloaded fitted. For subset 316 reddest stars, spectral energy distributions (SEDs) were constructed, and, together mid-infrared (MIR) spectra when available, radiative transfer programme order derive MLRs. based LCs fits data presented Inspired recent paper, number non-variable OH/IRs identified. Based selection amplitude, 750 (candidate) which 145 over days, many them being new. colours C-rich extremely red objects (EROs) fitting SEDs (and available MIR spectra) separates into C- O-rich objects. The EROs appears be complete up 5~kpc total return solar neighbourhood this class determined. Magellanic Clouds, bolometric derived.

Synthetic photometry of M-type AGB stars with JWST & WISE

In this study we present a data set of synthetic photometry of M-type AGB stars for JWST, WISE and a lter set that will be referred to as the generic lter set, consisting of: UX BX B V R I J J2m H H2m Ks2m K L L’ M M’. 106 di erent models compromised of 4741 spectra have been processed for the three lter sets. We have also tted the models to eight observations of M-type AGB stars made by WISE, ...

Post-AGB stars as testbeds of nucleosynthesis in AGB stars

We construct a data base of 125 post-AGB objects (including R CrB and extreme helium stars) with published photospheric parameters (effective temperature and gravity) and chemical composition. We estimate the masses of the postAGB stars by comparing their position in the (log Teff , log g) plane with theoretical evolutionary tracks of different masses. We construct various diagrams, with the ai...

Dust from AGB stars

Dust is formed in the expanding atmosphere during late stages of stellar evolution. Dust influences the dynamics and thermodynamics of the stellar atmosphere by its opacity. The dust opacity depends both on the optical properties of the grain material as well as on the amount of dust present. A rich source of information on some mineral phases of dust in AGB stars comes from the study of presol...

On the convective envelope of AGB stars

We discuss evolutionary computations investigating the efficiency of the convective ”drift” which should affect the location of the inner boundary of the convective envelope in cool giant stars. We find that the drift is at the work in structures undergoing the second dredge up, accelerating the sinking of the envelope into the inner He rich layers and producing smaller C-O cores at the onset o...
